Hair Extensions

Today I applied my first full set of Hair Extensions. It was a complete success! I used the Micro Bead Method on my beautiful model Kelsey. She has fine hair and had Keratin Extensions a year ago. Her first impressions of the micro bead method is she loved that the bonds were the same color as her hair where with the Keratin Method they turned a whiteish color after a few weeks. She also mentioned that it felt a little lighter on her head.

She will be keeping me updated about the differences of the keratin and micro bead method.

New Trends.

Ive gotta be one of the worst bloggers ever. Actually don’t even call me a blogger I don’t deserve the title. I'm horrible about posting. I forget and then 2 months later realize hey, I have a blog. Since its been awhile I figured I would update you all with the excitement in my world of hair.

Have you ever grown out a haircut that was so short you could only put it into a itty bitty stub? Then there is a seriously awesome day when you can put the back into a pony tail and a few bobby pins will take care of the front. Then there is the glorious day when you put it all up into a highpony tail and don’t need any bobbypins. That was today for me!! Im unsure which was better: buying an awesome sweatshirt for only 15 dollars or putting my hair in a real ponytail. Either way, Today was a good day!

In other exciting news today I completed my Micro Bead Hair Extensions class!!! Im very excited about this new service I will be adding. Im really loving the Micro Bead Method, Since there is no glue, heat or chemicals, there is no damage to your hair if maintained properly! My favorite part is the hair is reusable. You can reuse the hair for 8+ months if cared for properly. The hair I use is 100% Human Remy hair, You treat it the same way you would treat your own.
The Best thing about hair extensions is you can be really creative without damaging your own hair! Cut the cost of color down, keep your own hair super healthy and switch it up often!  I can do anything from a full head of beautiful long blonde locks to a few pink peekaboo pieces.

There are a bunch of hot things going on with hair right now. Its all about adding fun with out changing your hair.

Theres the feather extensions. You cant walk down the streets of seattle without seeing someone with them. I myself have 10 feathers in my hair. It only takes 15 min and you have an amazing fun accessory in your hair.

The next hot item is Hair tinsel. Hair tinsel is shiny pieces of silk that is heat safe. You can mix it with your feathers or wear it solo. It’s a really cool way to add subtle funk to your hair.

Next is my newest fav. HAIR BLING! Hair bling is little rhinestones that attach to your hair they last about a week, but ive heard them lasting up to three if your gentle.

MicroBead Hair Extensions

Micro Bead/Loc/Link Extensions are claimed to be one of the safest ways to go when it comes to long term extensions. There is no heat, no glue, no chemicals. its just hair and a metal clip(bead.) Brands available: HairLoc, Babe, Microlink.

a
"HairLoc" bonds
Hair is sectioned off into rows and the extension is applied to a piece of hair the same size as the extension. It is secured with a metal clip(bead) that is crunched holding the extension and your hair together. Many brands have a silicone coating on the inside of the clip(bead) to protect your hair.

After 3-4 months its recomended to come in for maintance and get the clips moved up. The clips are easily loosened and moved up then tightened. If maintaned correctly Micro bead/loc extensions can last up to a year!! Also since the hair is not damaged in application you can reuse it; great for people who are color changers.

I have a few friends who have done this method, they love it because the clips lay flat against the head and are metal so its smooth against the hair. People who use this method swear by it.

My feathers were applied with this method and it was SUPER easy and quick, no mess whatsoever. I wont lie the first day they were applied it was a little strange (this is from someone who has never had long term extensions) but now a week later, i'm totally used to it and want more!

I look forward to fully trying this hair extension application soon and see what I actually think.

Also I would like to thank www.hairangel.net for the photos she has a great before and after gallery.

Feather Hair Extensions!

I got feathered and I LOVE it. Feather Extensions are a fun easy way to add sass to your hair. They are attached with a silicone microbead and stay in your hair for about 8 weeks. You can wash, dry, curl and flat iron them
you can flat iron

you can curl
You can even reuse the feather when the bead grows out or you need to remove them. We use Featherlocks Feather Hair Extensions and they cost $30 for three and $10 for each additional feather. Featherlocks come in 40 different colors more natural color and crazy bright colors

For the Month of January and February we are doing a deal at Evolve: Hair and Art $25 for your first 3 feathers and $5 for each additional feather. Call 425.200.HAIR to book your appointment.

Hair Extensions- Clip In

Clip-In's are super easy to do they are the cheapest form of Hair Extensions. With clip-in's there are a few different options.

Clip-In Wefts
Jessica Simpson Hair Extensions

You can get them as single "wefts" (I like to think of them as panels of hair) or you can get them where the wefts are connected (I think of it as a half wig: fake hair on the bottom real hair on the top) Jessica Simpson Extensions are like this.

Kind of Hair: Synthetic or Human. Typically synthetic you cant heat style but I do have some that I can use low heat on (read the instructions if it says dont use heat DO NOT USE HEAT!) Human hair will last alot longer and you can style it as you would your own hair.

My favorite thing about Clip-In extensions is you can get really creative with fun colors for only a night or even try out bangs for the day!!

My biggest recommendation for clip ins is to make sure you have a good color match (or if its human hair have your colorist color them) and if you plan of wearing them often get them blended with your hair. I don't recommend them for daily use but they're great for a night out or event.

Below is a picture of my normal hair length and a picture with clip in extensions. I used 6-8 wefts of two different colors Note: I have a horrible color match and they're not blended (but it was Halloween its expected.)

Styling Class Details

I will now be hosting a styling class next Tuesday and the last Tuesday of every month.

During my time as a hairstylist I have realized that people get great haircuts and color and spend all this money on tools and products but never know how to maintain or style their hair. My goal is to get together a group, sit down with a glass of wine, and let you all talk about your hair needs. Once we figure out what your needs are you will work with your own tools to achieve the look or style you desire all with help from a hairstylist. The whole reason I've decided to do this is because when your in the salon there isn't always enough time to fully show and understand what your stylist is doing, then you go home with all these tools and products and you only remember half of what was said and its frustrating because nothing is working! Your hairstyle never looks how your stylist did it.

The class will be on Tuesday January 25th at Evolve: Hair and Art at 7:00pm. There is a tuition fee of $10 but you will also receive $10 off a product of your choice and a special surprise. I'm also very excited to announce that we will also be launching a new very fun service at the class.

To attend this class please RSVP: Info@JeskaNewman.com
